Skip the chaos and discover a new way to shop this Black Friday
As the holiday season approaches, it seems like everywhere you turn, there’s a frenzy of Black Friday deals and discounts. But I wanted to take a moment to share why I won’t be jumping on the Black Friday bandwagon this year, and why you might want to consider a different approach too.
Every year in the wee hours of the morning the day after Thanksgiving, my sister and her group head out to find great deals. While Black Friday can be exciting and offer some great savings, I’ve come to realize that it often comes at a cost. The long lines, crowded stores, and frantic rush can leave you feeling overwhelmed and stressed. Instead of enjoying quality time with loved ones, you end up caught up in the chaos of shopping. AND don’t even get me started on the lost sleep that will leave you crabby.
That’s why I’m encouraging you to take a step back and consider an alternative approach. Rather than getting caught up in the consumerism of Black Friday, let’s focus on something more meaningful – supporting small businesses.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they have been hit hard by the challenges of the past year. By choosing to shop local and support small businesses, we can make a real difference in our communities. Not only will you find unique and thoughtful gifts, but you’ll also be helping entrepreneurs and solopreneurs thrive. For example, buy the calendar for the local photographer, handcrafted soaps from your neighbor, custom décor from the local artist.
In addition to supporting small businesses, I also believe in investing in personal growth and development. Instead of spending hours in line or scrolling through endless online deals, why not invest that time in yourself? Consider your goals for the upcoming year and invest in coaching or mentorship that supports you in making significant progress. Or consider how you can invest in your family in loved ones by planning activities to spend quality time together.
By choosing to opt-out of the Black Friday frenzy and invest in yourself, your family, and your community, you’re making a conscious decision to prioritize what truly matters. So this year, let’s skip the chaos and discover a new way to shop and grow together.
Wishing you joy this holiday season!
